Transformers Generations Deluxe Skids

Transformers Generations Skids was released in 2013 but I was ony able to get him last 2019 off a really good deal that included both Generations Orion Pax and Nighbeat as well as Legend Class Cliffjumper. This figure is based off Alex Milne's design for IDW's More Than Meets The Eye and Lost Light comics. In those continuities he was a theoritician and master learner, able to learn and master any skill that he wants to.

I love how this toy looks and was really disappointed that his legs couldn't move forward. Only last month did I learn that you can improve his articulation by swapping the upper thighs as my figure was misassembled. After that simple fix his legs had so much better forward movement. Sadly though, he still has problems standing up, hence my need to use a stand. Nevertheless, he is now able to pull off more dynamic poses and he looks better on the shelf.

I'm still amazed at how much play value they were able to cram into this toy. The arm guns move at the same time because they are connected by gears. I don't like how they look in this configuration but its something you can do.

I love this face sculpt. I'll be using this for future reference.

His shoulder mounted missiles and over the shoulder guns are awesome and more than makes up for the very limited articulation at the shoulders.

His guns combine to form this bigger gun, which, obviously, is way cooler than the individual guns.

His car mode looks great in photos even though it's a very plain looking hatchback. Relative to how cool his robot mode looks like, this alt mode feels bleh, but I guess they were channeling his G1 alt mode here. Its amazing though how everything compacts into his car mode.

These covers on the rear window could use some black paint.

No visible head syndrome.

If you get the chance to buy him, I suggest you do. He looks really nice on the shelf even if he terribly lacks articulation at the shoulders and can't stand on his own. These old CHUGS were really fun, they were very experimental and most of them had so much play value that newer figs do not have.

I understand the love for G1, I am amazed at how much G1 accurate the current War for Cybertron toy lines are but I feel that HasTak was just having so much fun when they were working on these old CHUGS and I often wish that along with the "classics" we'd keep on getting newer take on old characters.
