1/144 Gundam Ashtron

The 1/144 Gundam Ashtron from Bandai is an old kit and it shows its age. It is not very articulate, still uses the old PC set from the Non-Grade Gundam Wing line and has those horrible rubber hands. Nevertheless, this is the first kit that I have really wanted to buy for myself way back when I was in college.

I had a blast working on this kit. There are days when I miss the few parts count on the pre-HGUCs because I really do not care for molding separately the colored parts. While I do agree that they make the kits easier to build and color, sometimes I feel that doing so needlessly bumps up the price of the kit. But I know that Bandai is making the kits more enjoyable for modelers who prefer their kits snap-built so it's ok.

I opted to customize the arms that attach the pincers. Those that come with the kit are too flimsy and don't really do much in terms of posing. I used some brass wires and plastic ties and just painted everything flat black. The kit, by the way, is very back heavy. I added weights on the foot but due to the age of the PC joints it is not able to stand up well so I had to resort to stands for the duration of the shoot.

Just some random stuff:

I've started watching the latest Gundam series: Gundam Builders and I have to say that so far based on the 2 episodes I like it. I love the Build Strike except for that horrendous shield and I enjoy what appears to be a lighter tone for the story. I seriously hate those emo main characters from Seed and OO and it's nice to have the main characters act like they are not made of cardboard.

On a personal note, I really really feel drained right now. I feel that I've backed myself into a corner by being too nice that sometimes people who expect me to do what they expect me to do get frustrated when I do otherwise. People who really know me know that I have my reasons for almost everything that I do. It's a major bummer and I don't get angry a lot but right now I think I am and I just want to have some alone time.  I want to think about things for a bit.
